WIM VLUGGEN has conducted Maastricht University Choir since 1995. He studied school music, choir direction and Gregorian at the Maastricht Academy of Music. To further specialize in directing, Vluggen attended many courses and masterclasses in the Netherlands and abroad.
Vluggen has been the conductor of several choirs in Limburg and the Randstad; he conducted Mozart’s Krönungsmesse during the “Muziekdagen” in Eys as guest conductor for many years. In addition to conducting, Vluggen gives workshops in singing techniques and choir training. He teaches art and music at the Bernardinuscollege in Heerlen; Vluggen is also affiliated with the Maastricht Academy of Music, where he teaches choir direction and didactics.
Through visits to several international symposia and music festivals, Vluggen gained an extensive knowledge of repertoire. His main goals are to optimize the choir sound, motivate the singers, express the meaning of lyrics in the music, and perform unknown repertoire.
